On Friday, Disney announced that Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway ride, which was going to be introduced this year, is being pushed back to spring 2020. The ride was previously announced back in 2017, but in 2018’s Destination D event, it got a Fall 2019 release window. This seemed set in stone since we had no reason to doubt Disney’s building capabilities.

In Friday’s official Disney Parks Blog, though, we got another story. The post explained the ride will be coming to Disneyland in 2022. This acted as a way of them announcing their earlier release window was too small and quickly approaching. So, they would be launching the park ride in 2020.

The reason behind this delay was never officially announced, but Disney-focused channels are speculating its reason. One channel and website, under the name Mickey Views, has made a video explaining his beliefs being behind the advanced technology they plan to use. The corporation isn’t just using the standard fanfare like their normal rides.

Disney has given fans insight that Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will feature an original story and a “lovable” theme song. The tech used will be state-of-the-art and the visual effects will be “dazzling”. Whenever the ride comes out, hopefully it will be all it’s cracked up to be.
